Trecator SC har antimikrobiel aktivitet mod mycobacteria tuberculosis af forskellige stammer. Det virker bakteriostatisk, hæmmer reproduktion og vækst af mycobacterium tuberculosis med intracellulær og ekstracellulær placering. Trecator SC ordineres, når patienten er diagnosticeret med streptomycin-resistente og isoniazid-resistente personale, samt i tilfælde af ineffektivitet af første-line anti-tuberkulose medicin, herunder som en del af kompleks tuberkulostatisk behandling.
