カタログに戻るネキシウムは、胃で生成される酸の量を減らします。胃食道逆流症（GERD）の症状や、ゾリンジャー・エリソン症候群などの胃酸過多を伴うその他の症状の治療に使用されます。また、びらん性食道炎（胃酸による食道の損傷）の治癒を促進するためにも使用されます。また、ヘリコバクター ピロリ（H. pylori）の感染や非ステロイド性抗炎症薬（NSAID）の使用によって引き起こされる胃潰瘍を予防するために投与されることもあります。
