Biltricide (praziquantel) is een anthelminticum of anti-wormmedicijn dat wordt gebruikt om infecties te behandelen die worden veroorzaakt door Schistosoma-wormen, die het lichaam binnendringen via de huid die in contact is gekomen met besmet water. Schistosoma-wormen komen voor in Afrika, Zuid-Amerika, landen in het Midden-Oosten, het Caribisch gebied en delen van Azië. Biltricide wordt ook gebruikt om infecties met leverbot te behandelen, veroorzaakt door een type worm dat voorkomt in Oost-Azië. Biltricide (praziquantel) verhoogt de permeabiliteit van membranen van cellen van helminthen voor Ca2+, het veroorzaakt de algemene vermindering van spieren die overgaan in de aanhoudende verlamming die leidt tot de dood van helminthen.

Biltricide is also used to treat infection with liver flukes, caused by a type of worm found in East Asia. This worm enters the body while eating contaminated fish.
