Terug naar catalogusHygroton (chlorthalidon) is een diureticum op recept ("plaspil") dat voornamelijk wordt gebruikt voor de behandeling van hoge bloeddruk (hypertensie) en vochtretentie (oedeem). Het verlaagt de bloeddruk en vermindert oedeem door de nieren te helpen overtollig zout en water via de urine uit het lichaam te verwijderen. Het wordt vaak gebruikt bij hartfalen of zwellingen als gevolg van levercirrose.
