Thorazine - het product van GlaxoSmithKline en Zuellig Pharma, gebaseerd op Chlorpromazine, de stof die behoort tot een neuroleptische groep van alifatische derivaten van fenothiazine. Het heeft een uitgesproken antipsychotisch effect, elimineert psychomotorische agitatie, vermindert angst, agressiviteit en psychomotorische remming. Naast neuroleptica en kalmerende middelen heeft het een anti-emetisch, hypothermisch, antihypertensief, antihistaminicum en antiserotonine effect. Het blokkeert centrale adrenerge en dopaminerge interneurale contacten. Krachtige werking van analgetica, lokale anesthetica, hypnotica en anticonvulsiva.

Thorazine is used to treat certain mental or mood disorders such as schizophrenia, anxiety, the manic phase of manic-depressive disorder, and restlessness, before surgery, porphyria, severe conduct and behavioral disorders in children, nausea and vomiting, and severe hiccups. It can be used to treat symptoms associated with tetanus. It's active component is phenothiazine. It blocks dopamine receptors in the brain.
