Trecator SC heeft antimicrobiële activiteit tegen mycobacteria tuberculosis van verschillende stammen. Het werkt bacteriostatisch, remt de reproductie en groei van mycobacterium tuberculosis met intracellulaire en extracellulaire locatie. Trecator SC wordt voorgeschreven wanneer de patiënt is gediagnosticeerd met streptomycine-resistente en isoniazide-resistente staven, evenals in geval van ineffectiviteit van eerstelijns anti-tuberculose medicijnen, inclusief als onderdeel van complexe tuberculostatische therapie.
